Sense of Light at SpinExpo Shanghai, renewing an existing exhibition system through light, material, and spatial continuity.
Sense of Light was developed as the next evolution of an existing exhibition system, using the same spatial foundation but shifting the visual language toward light, luminosity, and a more responsive atmosphere. Created for SpinExpo Shanghai, the project showed how a booth could be renewed through precise creative changes rather than structural expansion.
The central idea was simple: instead of adding more elements, change the role of light. Here, light was no longer treated as support, but as an active material that could shape how wool and cashmere were perceived in space.
New visual content was developed through a dedicated physical filming set, where yarns were treated as luminous elements intersecting beams, glow, reflection, and softness. This made the material feel lighter, more atmospheric, and more spatially alive.
The imagery also introduced a new layer of graphic rhythm. Messages appeared and dissolved inside the visual flow, while text and form stayed subtle and integrated into the movement of light rather than sitting on top of it.
Human presence entered the system for the first time in a restrained way. Figures were not used as narrative subjects, but as quiet scale references that helped define the relationship between body, light, material, and space.
This gave the installation a calmer and more responsive identity. Slow transitions, controlled exposure, and seamless looping allowed the booth to hold attention over time without becoming visually aggressive.
What made Sense of Light especially valuable was the efficiency of the method behind it. The existing structure remained coherent, while low-cost updates and targeted visual interventions were enough to generate a clearly renewed experience.
For Rack, the project remains a strong example of how an exhibition system can stay relevant through refinement rather than expansion, using light, image, and spatial continuity to create a new chapter without losing identity.
